Hardware: nearly the same scale
Etekcity: 5,000 g / 11 lb, 1 g / 0.1 oz / 1 mL, a 9.2 × 6.3 × 0.6 in platform, three AAAs, backlight auto-off 30–120 seconds and scale auto-off at 120. RENPHO: 5 kg, 1 g / 0.05 oz / 1 mL / 0.1 fl oz, a 9 × 6 × 0.6 in platform, three AAAs, an LCD display, auto-off not stated. Both tare. Both are 0.6 inches thick. Put a dinner plate on either and you will lean to read the display. Nothing here decides it.
Software: the actual decision
Etekcity / VeSync. The page says the app is supported by Nutritionix, which "holds about 1 million food data", and that the scale "connects to free VeSync app, Apple Health and Fitbit". A million entries means the exact brand of Greek yogurt is probably there; the Apple Health handoff means the day's totals land where a watch already logs your training.
RENPHO / Renpho Health. The page says the scale "tracks 23 nutrition facts" — protein, carbohydrates, calories, sugars, fiber, fat, ten minerals, six vitamins, niacin, carotene and cholesterol — and doesn't state the database size or any third-party sync. If potassium and iron are numbers you watch, this is the deeper readout. If you want the totals in another app, the page doesn't promise it.
Warranty. Etekcity: 2-year limited plus a 30-day money-back. RENPHO: 18 months, site-exclusive.
Both are AAA scales; if USB-C matters, the Luminary and COSORI on Etekcity vs COSORI are the rechargeable versions of the same VeSync app.
