The verdict
What's the same
VeSync. Both makers are VeSync brands, and both scales pair to the VeSync app, which Etekcity says uses the Nutritionix database giving 19 nutrition facts, and COSORI describes as a 1M+ food database tracking 19 essential nutrients. Both are 1 g graduation. Both are USB-C rechargeable. Both print a 2-year limited warranty. Both tare, both switch units (Etekcity lists oz / lb:oz / g / mL and fl oz for water and milk; COSORI lists seven units including ml and fl oz for water and milk). If you put them on a counter and opened the app, the food-logging experience would be the same product.
What's different
Capacity. Luminary: 22 lb / 10 kg. NutriLens: 5,000 g. That is the whole bulk-prep argument — a mixing bowl with two pounds of chicken thighs already in it tares out on the Luminary and may not on the COSORI.
Minimum weight. COSORI states 3 grams as the floor; Etekcity doesn't state one. Neither is a supplement scale, but a stated 3 g floor means the NutriLens won't read a single-gram pinch.
Auto-off. Luminary: 30–300 seconds, adjustable in the app. COSORI: not published. If you have ever had a scale sleep under a bowl mid-portion, the 300-second setting is the reason to pick the Luminary.
Platform. Luminary: 9.1 × 6.7 × 1.1 in, stainless. COSORI: not published on the product page.
Reporting. COSORI's page leads with the app tracking calories, protein, carbs and fat by day, week and month and analyzing eating habits; Etekcity's page leads with the hardware. Same app, so the reports are likely the same — but COSORI is the one making the claim.
