Rice cooker vs Instant Pot: two appliances or one, decided by how much rice you eat
If rice is most of your carbs, a micom rice cooker's brown-rice program, extended keep-warm and delay timer are worth a second appliance. If rice is one of five things you cook, the Instant Pot makes it well enough and does the rest. Here is the arithmetic.

The verdict
What a dedicated cooker does that a multicooker doesn't
Grain-specific programs. Zojirushi prints "white/sushi, quick cooking, mixed, porridge, sweet, brown, cake, and steam"; CUCKOO lists GABA and multigrain modes. A micom cooker changes the soak, the boil and the rest by grain. The Instant Pot has a rice program tuned for white rice and pressure-cooks brown rice on a manual setting — it works, but it isn't a brown-rice cycle.
Keep-warm built for holding. Zojirushi's "automatic keep warm, extended keep warm and reheating cycle" is designed to hold rice at serving temperature for a long time; the Instant Pot's keep-warm is a 10-hour hold on whatever finished cooking. Both are fine for the hour it takes to portion.
Delay timer. Zojirushi prints two delay-timer settings; rice that starts at 4 p.m. is done at 6. The Instant Pot has delay start on most programs, though its page didn't state the hours in what we read.
The steaming basket. Zojirushi includes one; Aroma includes a steam tray; the Instant Pot includes a steam rack. All three can steam vegetables over rice — a whole meal component in the same cycle.
What the Instant Pot does that a rice cooker can't
Pressure-cook a batch of chicken thighs, dried beans or a stew in under an hour; sauté onions in the same pot first; slow-cook if you'd rather load and leave; make yogurt. Seven functions, thirteen programs, an 18/8 stainless tri-ply pot that goes in the dishwasher and can't scratch, 1,000 watts. If your prep is chili and shredded chicken with rice on the side, the Instant Pot is the appliance and a rice cooker is a luxury.
